The Giant Jumper was created over 4 months working at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, with patients and staff and the hospitals wider community. The huge knitted jumper was installed at the entrance to the Hospital in October 2014 at The Fresh Arts Festival.

The jumper was created from a series of square patches made through workshops, coffee shop ‘knit in’s’, knitting on the wards and around the hospital site. Throughout the project I collected knitting stories, shared by participants, and documented at the festival alongside the jumper.

During the festival I hosted workshops inviting local knit and natter groups to join the knitters involved in the project to meet and celebrate the therapeutic benefits of knitting. The project involved over 70 people and led to ‘Knit With Me’ a year residency at Southmead hospital, developing this work in 2015.
