A landscape of stories

Through workshops, and kits, participants were invited to create an embroidered map. These individual maps became a creative document of a journey; documenting a time or event, a journey or activity in their life. Each participant received a kit with step-by-step instructions and everything they needed to create a map, this included a blank fabric panel with a starting point ‘Then’ and an end point ‘Now’ attached.

We received 50 maps from all over the South West, overlapping, joining and tracing the geographical similarities  these maps came together to create a landscape of stories which we installed in the Guildhall, Bath, in summer 2015. The maps documented a huge range of journeys from falling in love, to having a baby, homelessness, recovery, and a day in care.

This was a collaboration with artist Carrie Love and Guinness Care and Support.
